Question 106320: how would u write a linear equation for this: the number of calories a person burns doing an activity is directly related to the time (in minutes) the person spends dong the activity. A person weighting 160 lbs burns 73 calories dancing for 20 minutes
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A person weighting 160 lbs burns 73 calories dancing for 20 minutes
-------------
If calories burned is directly related to length of exercise you
get an equation: cals burned = k(minutes of excercise)
-----------------
You need to find "k"; substitute the data and solve for "k", as follows:
73 = k(20)
k = 73/20
--------------
EQUATION:
cals burned = (73/20)(minutes of exercise)
or, using "c" for cals burned and "e" for minutes of exercise you get:
c = (73/20)e
