Question 1060214: For the following problem, the slope and one point on a line is given. Use the point-slope form to find the equation of that line. (Write your answer in slope-intercept form.)
(−6,5), m = −4/3
Please help me. Im so confused :(
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
point slope formula is y-y1=m (x-x1), m is the slope, (x1,y1) the point
y-5=(-4/3)(x+6), notice the + sign for x, since it is a minus of a minus.
y-5=((-4x/3)-8
y=-(4x/3)-3. That is slope intercept form. The slope is (-4x/3) or -(4/3)x, the same thing. The intercept is -3.
The point should work
5=(-4(-6))/3-3
5=8-3
