1)Anything smaller than 0 to infinite, excluding 0 because the problem says <0 (smaller than zero). If it said equal or smaller then zero would be included:

2) We use parenthesis when the numbers are not included and brackets when they are included. In this case, because 0 is not included (your answer is smaller-than, so it excludes 0), we use parenthesis:
(∞, 0) this includes all numbers from infinite up to but excluding 0
