Question 1042226: Find an equation for the line with the given properties. Express the answer using the general form of the equation of a line.
Containing the points (-4, -2) and (0, -9)

Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First find the slope, change in y over change in x
That is -9-(-2)/0-(-4), or -7/4
Then use the point slope formula
y-y1=m(x-x1)
y+9=(-7/4)(x)
y=(-7/4)x-9
check with other point. Should get same equation.
y-(-2)=(-7/4)(x+4)
y+2=(-7/4)x-7
y=-(7/4)x-9
