Question 1030579: solve by substitution 4x-5y=40 the second part of the equation is 2x+10y=20 what are the coordinates
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4 x + -5 y = 40 .............1
-5 y = 40 + -4 x
/ -5 =
y = -8 + 4/5 x
2 x + 10 y = 20 .....................2
Substitute y in (2)
2 x + 10 ( -8 + 4/5 x ) = 20
2 x + -80 + 8 x = 20
2 x 8 x = 100
10 x = 100
/ 10
x= 10
Plug the value of x in (1)
4 x + -5 y = 40
4 * 10 + -5 y = 40
40 + -5 y = 40
-5 y = 0
/ -5
y= 0
