Hi there,
y=3x+1.........(1)
2x+2y=18........(2)
Substitute y = 3x + 1 from Eq(1)
into Eq(2)
2x + 2y = 18
2x + 2(3x + 1) = 18
2x + 6x + 2 = 18
Collect like terms:
2x + 6x = 18 - 2
8x = 16
x = 2
Substitute x = 2 into
Eq(1)
y = 3x + 1
y = 3(2) + 1
y = 6 + 1
y = 7
(2,7)
Hope this helps :-)
