Writing the equation for a line in slope intercept form is just a matter of setting the equation equal to y
So for
x + y = 5
move the x to the other side of the equation by subtracting x from both sides
x - x + y = 5 - x
y = 5 - x
Now for slope intercept form when need the x to be placed directly after the equal sign. so lets make that adjustment
y = -x + 5
Ok so now we have x + y = 5 written in slope intercept form y = mx + b
m is the slope
and b is the y intercept
so in our equation
y = -x + 5
the slope is -1 or -1/1
and the y intercept is 5
