1) y - 18 = 71.3(x + 98)
y - 18 = 71.3x + 6987.4
y = 71.3x + 6987.4 + 18
y = 71.3x + 7005.4
Slope = 71.3
Cuts 'y' axis at (0, 7005.4)
A point on this line:-
(1, 7076.7) for example.
2) Using line equation
y - b = m(x - a)
where m = 16
(a,b) = (4,9)
y - 9 = 16(x - 4)
y - 9 = 16x - 64
y = 16x - 64 + 9
y = 16x - 55
3) y + 1 = 1.2(x + 2)
y + 1 = 1.2x + 2.4
y = 1.2x + 2.4 - 1
y = 1.2x + 1.4.........(1)
y - 5 = 1.2(x - 3)
y - 5 = 1.2x - 3.6
y = 1.2x - 3.6 + 5
y = 1.2x + 1.4.........(2)
Both equations (1) & (2) work out to
the same equation.
Equation (1) uses (-1, -2) and slope 1.2
Equation (2) uses (5, 3) and slope 1.2
Both sets of the coordinates (-1,-2) and (5,3)
lie on the same line: y = 1.2x + 1.4
