Question 1016515: Write an equation of a line in slope intercept form that contains the ordered pairs (-3,4) and (1,-4)
Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
slope is change in y/change in x. Start from right. (-4-4)/(1-(-3))=-8/4=-2
y=-2x+b
now use point slope formula
y-y1=-2(x-x1) and you may use either point.
use the one on the right
y+4=-2(x-1) be sure to make it y+4, since you are subtracting a negative.
y=-2x+2-4, watch signs.
y=-2x-2
Check. Both ordered pairs should work
first
4=-2(-3)-2 yes.
-4=-(2)(1)-2 yes.
