Question 1010206: Find the value of x or y so that the line through the points has the given slope.
(5,y) and (1,-3); slope: 5/4
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
slope is change of y/change of x
-3-y/1-5
=(-3-y)/-4, and that equals 5/4
cross-multiply.
-20=-12-4y
4y=8
y=2
y+3=(5/4)(x-1)
y=(5x/4)-(17/4)
