Hi there,
First of all sort out line equation
into y = mx + c form.
-2x + 3y = -1
3y = 2x - 1
y = 2/3x - 1/3
Gradient = 2/3
Lines that are perpendicular to
one another have gradients that
multiply together to give -1
m1 x m2 = -1
Line above has 2/3 for a gradient
2/3 x m2 = -1
m2 = -3/2
Using the line equation:
y - b = m(x - a)
Where-
m = -3/2 and (a,b) = (4,-2)
y -(-2) = -3/2(x - 4)
y + 2 = -3/2(x - 4)
y + 2 = -3/2x + 6
y = -3/2x + 6 - 2
y = -3/2x + 4
This is your answer.
Hope this helps :-)
