The equation is in the form y = mx+b. Notice how the m and 4 match up. They are both in front of the x.

The slope of y = mx+b is m
The slope of y = 4x+2 is 4, in this case, m = 4

So the slope of that equation given to you is 4.

Your equation is already in slope-intercept form, which formula is:
y= mx+b where m is the slope and b the point intercept
You have:
y= 4x+2 so here we have that the slope m= 4 and the intercept b= 2.
------------------------------------------------------------
To plot this equation you need ordered pairs; each point needs an x and a y.
The easiest way I know to find these points is this:
make x= 0 to find y:
y= 4x+2 Make x= 0:
y= 4*0+2 solve for y:
y= 2
this point is (0,2)
----------------------
Now let's make y= 0 to find x:
0= 4x+2 solve for x, subtract 2 from both sides
4x= -2
x= -2/4
x= -1/2
this point is:
(-1/2,0)
Your ordered pair is (0,2), (-1/2,0)
See the graph I made for you, plotting these two points:
