Do I make up numbers like -1, 0, and 1 to find the x intercept? I'm totally confused with this. Please help.

If that one is a multi-variable linear equation, then there are no restrictions on the other variables, or if for just two dimensions, no restriction on x.

-----------this is just a horizontal line at y=-3, and for all values of x. This had NO x-axis intercept.
