Question 1005281: This would be the last time I'd adk... maybe. But I really am having a hard time on literal equations. So these are the questions : solve for x
1. a/2x+6a=-bx+4
2. 11m-mx/2=-2x
Thanks!

Answer by ikleyn(52803)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
1.  a/2x + 6a = -bx + 4

First multiply both sides by  2  to get rid of denominators:

ax + 12a = -2bx + 8.

Now,  collect all terms with x on the left side,  and all other terms on the right side.
When you move the terms between the sides,  change their signs for opposites.

ax + 2bx = 8 - 12a.
(a + 2b)x = 8 - 12a.

Next,  divide both sides by  (a + 2b)  assuming it is not the zero:

x = .

That's all.

2. Now,  do the same with the second equation.

I don't want to deprive you a pleasure to make it yourself :)
