Question 535122: Here is the question I can't solve: A police person passes a speeding car and makes an immediate U-turn to stop the speeder. The police person has to drive 140/mph for four miles in order to catch up to the speeding car. How fast is the speeding car traveling?
I feel like my teacher is leaving out some numbers to help me solve this problem. I mean how long did it take the cop to turn around? Heck my whole class is having trouble with this one. Its worth 20 bonus points and I need all the help I can get. Thx.

Question 543899: please help I have been trying to get an answer for this problem all week. 1. an open top box with the base width of 4 feet base length of 5 feet and height of 3 feet. now suppose the there are three straight rigid wires of lengths 6, 7, and 8feet can any of these wires be laid flat on the base of the box? If it cant be laid flat determine if it can be placed inside the box without bending the wire. if they cant be be placed in the inside of the box without bending the wire explain why or why not

A 20 meter ladder and a 15 meter ladder were leaned against a building. The bottom of the longer ladder was 7 meters farther from the building than the bottomof the shorter ladder, but both ladders reached the same distance up the building. Find the distance the ladders reached up the building.
I don't even remember how to begin to do this.
