Question 969678: ABC is a triangle with area 6 square units.
A has coordinates (–3, –2), B has coordinates (1, –2).
A, B and C are all in different quadrants.
What is the y-coordinate of C?

* (-3,-2) A Q III * (1,-2) B QIV
C must be in quadrant I or II.
A=(1/2) bh and the base is 4 units along the x-axis (distance from -3 to +1)
A=6
Multiply by 2
A=12=bh; base is 4. The height has to be 3 (12/4).
C has to be at least 3 units above the line AB.
AB has a y-coordinate of -2.
C has to have a y-coordinate of -2+3=1
The answer is y-coordinate=1
