A certain kind of wood weighs 0.85 g per cubic cm. An 18cm by 12cm by 10cm block of that wood is floating in water. Approximately what weight of water does the block displace?
------------
Find the volume of the block:
V = 18*12*10 = 2160 cubic cm
--------
EQUATION:
weight of displaced water
= [2160 cm^3]
= 2160*0.85
= 1836 grams
