Question 829590: The midpoint of a line segment is (-3,4). If one endpoint is (2,-1)determine the coordinates of the other endpoint
Answer by LinnW(1048)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First find the slope of the line.
Use the formula
So for the point (-3,4), x1=-3 and y1=4
For the point (2,-1) ,x2=2 and y2=-1
Substituting we get

slope = m = -1
x length = |-3-2| = 5
y length = |4-(-1)| = 5
The other endpoint is to the left in this case.
The end point (xn,yn) = (-3-5,4+5)=(-8,9)
So (-8,9) is the other endpoint.
