Question 792377: the length of a rectangular piece of land is 8 cm more than four times its width. the perimeter is 66 cm. what are the dimensions of the rectangular piece?
Answer by waynest(281)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
length = 4w + 8
p = 2w + 2L
2w + 2(4w + 8) = 66
2w + 8w + 16 = 66
10w + 16 - 16 = 66 - 16
10w = 50
10w/10 = 50/10
w = 5
check:
2(5) + 2(4(5) + 8) = 66
10 + 2(20 + 8) = 66
10 + 2(28) = 66
10 + 56 = 66
66 = 66
