Travis,the helicopter pilot, on a search and rescue mission, flying at an altitude of 800m and heading due west,sees an upturned dingy (D) at an angle of depression of 18degrees (from A). Maintaining this altitude,fifty seconds later(at B), Travis notices that the angle of depression is now 42degrees.

(a.) How far has the helicopter travelled in the fifty seconds?
Call the point under A point E, and under B point F.
AE = BF = 800 meters
Angle DAE = 72 degs
tan(72) = ED/800
ED = 800*tan(72) = 2462.15 meters
----------
FD = 800*tan(48)
FD = 888.49 meters
He moved ED - FD = 1573.66 meters
--------------------
(b.) Give the speed of the helicopter in meters per second?
1573.66 m/50sec = 31.47 m/sec
