Choose the most reasonable measure.
The height of a bookshelf
(A) 12 cm
(B) 12 m
(C) 1.2 m

A centimeter is about the width of your pinky finger. So
answer (A) is too small.

A meter is longer than a yardstick, so answer (B) is way too large.

So answer (C), 1.2 m is the only reasonable answer.

Look, 12 cm is = 4.8 inches.
12 m = 1200 cm = in = 480 inches = = 40 ft.
Again, 1.2 m = 120 cm = in = 48 inches = = 4 ft.

Now, try to visualize.
Average height of man is about 5 ft.
So certainly he will not use a bookshelf of height which is 8 times his own height. So 40 ft i.e. 12 m cannot be the answer.

Next, 4.8 inches is very small to keep even one book in it. So this also cannot be the answer.

Hence, the last one 1.2 m, which is also the only one left, can be the answer. Further, note that 4 ft is a reasonable height for bookshelves.

So (c) is correct.
