Question 322525: Can anyone help me with this problem? Given 2 similar figures, explain how to tell if there is a size transformation that transforms one of the figures onto the other? Would you use an algorithm to model a change for stretching? Any help would be appreciated!
Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
It depends on what you mean by "similar." If you mean similar in the common vernacular, meaning "sorta, kinda the same," then there is no way to tell. On the other hand if you mean similar in the Euclidian Geometry sense, then the figures are similar if and only if there is a size transformation. And the algorithm would be to multiply the measurements of one by the proportion of similar parts of the two figures.
