Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x/3=4/x+1
x/3-4/x=1
(x*x-4*3)/3x=1
(x^2-12)/3x=1 cross multiply.
x^2-12=3x
x^2-3x-12=0

x=(3+-sqrt[-3^2-4*1*-12])/2*1
x=(3+-sqrt[9+48])/2
x=(3+-sqrt57)/2
x=(3+-7.55)/2
x=(3+7.55)/2
x=10.55/2
x=5.275 ans.
x=(3-7.55)/2
x=-4.55/2
x=-2.275 ans.
