I'm not sure I understandd what you are asking, but;
metric system= A system of measurements based on tens.
ex.;
1 meter; 10 meters= dekameter; 100 meters = hectometer
In most of the world they use the metric system for measuring, in the US we use the Customary System, which is; inches, feet, yards.
