Question 239568: Write the equation of the line that passes through (3,8) and is parallel to the line that passes through (5,4) and (2,3)
*please show the steps that you took, that is what i am mainly having problems with.
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Thru (3,8) & parallel to the line passing through (5,4) and (2,3)
Y=mX+b
m=(3-4)/(2-5)=-1/-3=1/3 ans.
Thus the line through (3,8) will also have a slope=1/3
8=1/3*3+b
8=3/3+b
b=8-1
b=7
Y=X/3+7 is this line equation.
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, x/3 +7).
