A garden plot is to contain 200 sq. ft.
If its length is to be twice its width, what should be its dimension?

let x = the width
then
2x = the length
:
The area
2x * x = 200
2x^2 = 200
divide both sides by 2,results:
x^2 = 100
x =
x = 10 ft is the width
2(10) = 20 ft is the length
