: there is a map. the problem says each side of each square is 4 kilometers the points represents the city locations. Question number 1. use the distance formula to estimate the distance between the Peabody and Bedford. the points are peabody is (3,5) and Bedford is ( -3,4 ). the answer in the book is about 24.33 km. but i do not know where that answer came from, i would really appreciate if somebody can help me.

You can do your own arithmetic to get the number of graph units between your two cities. Since each graph unit is worth 4 km, you have to multiply your answer to the above calculation by 4.
