Two cars traveled in opposite directions from the same starting point. The rate of one car was 10km less than the rate of the other. After 4 hours the cars were 600km apart. Find the speed of the train.

What train?

I'll assume you want the speeds of the cars.
The speed of the cars relative to each other is 600/4 = 150 kph. Going in opposite directions it's the sum of the 2 speeds.
s + f = 150 (slow + fast car)
s = f-10 (slower is 10 less than faster)
Sub for s into 1st eqn
f-10 + f = 150
2f = 160
f = 80 kph (faster car)
s = 70 kph (slower car)
