Solve the problem by working with the x coordinates separately and the y coordinates separately.

The distance in the x direction from A to B is 3-0=3; the difference in the y direction from A to B is 6-1=5.

1. Midpoint.
The distance in the x direction from A to the midpoint is half the distance in the x direction from A to B; the distance in the y direction from A to the midpoint is half the distance in the y direction from A to B.

2. Extended endpoint in A.
The distance in the x direction from A to this new endpoint is equal to the distance in the x direction from the midpoint to A; the distance in the y direction from A to this new endpoint is equal to the distance in the y direction from the midpoint to A.

3. Extended endpoint in B.
The distance in the x direction from B to this new endpoint is equal to the distance in the x direction from the midpoint to B; the distance in the y direction from B to this new endpoint is equal to the distance in the y direction from the midpoint to B.
