Question 1141318: Ezra rides his bike from home at point H(-1,2) to school at point S(2,2), to the comic book store at point C(2,-2) and then back home again. If each unit represents 2 miles, what is the total distance Ezra rode?
Answer by greenestamps(13203) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
When graphed, the first two parts of the trip are horizontal and vertical, so it is easy to determine their lengths.
Those two lengths are then the legs of a right triangle, making it easy to find the length of the third part of the trip (the hypotenuse of the right triangle).
Now you know the total distance; multiply that by the 2 miles per unit to get the total distance.
