Hi there,
Distance Formula:
Sqrt (x2 - x1)^2+ (y2 - y1)^2
Sqrt (2 - 1)^2 + (b - (-4))^2
Sqrt (1)^2 + (b + 4)^2
Sqrt (1)^2 + (b + 4)^2 = 5sqrt2
Sqrt (1)^2 + (b + 4)^2 = sqrt 50
Square both sides
1 + (b + 4)^2 = 50
(b + 4)^2 = 49
Square root both sides
b + 4 = 7
b = 3
Hope this helps :-)
