Question 165266This question is from textbook Prentice Hall Mathematics: Geometry
: Find two possible coordinates of Q so that PQ = 5.
On the number line P= -2 and H= 3
then I have to find the coordinate of the midpoint of PH.
It has been so many years since I have done this stuff. I just can't get this one.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If the length of segment PQ is 5, then Q is 5 units from P in either direction. So if P is -2, Q is 5 units to the left, -7, or 5 units to the right, 3.
The midpoint of PH is halfway between P and H. P is -2 and H is 3, so they are 5 units apart. So their midpoint is 2.5 units to the right of P, or 2.5 units to the left of H. That means the midpoint, M, is 0.5, or M = 0.5
