Question 701544: How can you determine if this equation is a direct variation and what the constant is?
y+8= -x

Any and all direct variations are of the form y = kx where k is any real number.
Since y + 8 = -x turns into y = -x+8, it CANNOT be written into the form y = kx
Therefore, y+8 = -x is NOT a direct variation equation.
