Question 687888: I need help with this problem: 4(x - 0.5) + 10.5 = 2(x +11.5) - 2.5
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Distribute the 4 and the 2
4x - 4(.5) + 10.5 = 2x + 2(11.5) - 2.5
4x - 2 + 10.5 = 2x + 23 - 2.5
4x - 8.5 = 2x + 20.5
Group like terms
4x - 2x = 20.5 - 8.5
Combine like terms
2x = 12
Divide both sides by 2 to isolate the variable
