You want to isolate the "x" on one side of the equal sign.
The "5" is in the way and it is in the denominator.
Multiply both sides by 5; that way you will cancel the 5 in the denominator.
5(x/5) = 5(20/4)
The 5's cancel on the left of the equal sign.
The common factor of 4 cancels on the right of the equal sign.

You are left with:
x=5*5
x=25
------------

Anyway, in the problem , so solve for x. you can use Property of Proportions. It states that in a proportion, the product of the means equals the product of the extremes. For any real number a, b, c, and d, b≠0 and d≠0:
If , then a*d = b*c

so
4x = 100 , Divide both sides by 4 to solve for x.
