Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2(x-3) = 5x +4
2x - 6 = 5x + 4
2x = 5x + 4 + 6
2x = 5x + 10
2x - 5x = 10
-3x = 10
...
Divide both sides by -3

...
If you have 2x = 5x + 10
then
2x - 2x = 5x + 10 - 2x
you get
0 = 3x + 10
subtract 10 from both sides
-10 = 3x
x = -10/3
