Question 579219: What's 1/3x+2=4?
Answer by sharksteal(2)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1/3x+2=4
you will need to multiply EVERYTHING! in the equation by 3 to get rid of the fraction:
(1/3x+2=4)3
(if you have more than one fraction, then you need to find the lowest common multiple of them)
x+6=12
now subtract 6 from each side:
x+6-6=12-6
x=6
check: plug in 6 to the original equation:
1/3(6)+2=4
now multiply 1/3 by 6 to get 2:
2+2=4
does 2+2=4? if so, than you have solved the equation correctly!!
