Question 477189: Which value of x is not allowed in this fraction x^2
______
1+2x
I was shown the answer but don't understand why. The explanation didn't make sense, so I am looking for someone else who can explain why the answer is what it is.

Answer by Alan3354(69443)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
It's the value of x that makes the denominator zero.
Dividing by zero is a VERY BAD THING.
------
1+2x = 0
x = -1/2 is not allowed
