the multiplicative inverse of a number is the reciprocal of that number.
the result of the multiplication is always equal to 1.
the multiplicative inverse of 6 would be 1/6 because 6 * 1/6 = 1
therefore (6g-2) * the multiplicative inverse of 6 is equal to:
(6g-2) * 1/6.
this would be equal to 1/6 * 6g - 1/6 * 2, which is equal to:
g - 2/6 which is equal to:
g - 1/3.

here's a reference on multiplicative inverse.

the multiplicative inverse is the same as the reciprocal.
the multiplication by the number and its reciprocal is always equal to 1.
if the number is negative, its reciprocal needs also to be negative in order for the result to be equal to 1.
since the reciprocal is equal to the multiplicative inverse, the same rules apply to the multiplicative inverse.

Why are you unsure? If you had an Algebra 1 course, you would be completely confident.
