This phrase "A mixture of 48 litres contain milk and water in the ratio of 7:5." means that

there are 7 + 5 = 12 equal volumes in 48 liters.

So, each such volume is  = 4 liters.

Thus, the original mixture contains 7*4 = 28 liters of milk and 5*4 = 20 liters of water.


And now you need to have, obviously, 30 liters of milk to get the ratio milk to water as 3:2 with 20 liters of water.


So, you need to add 2 liters of milk.

You will have then 28+2 = 30 liters of milk against 20 liters of water.
