~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let me re-formulate it in Math or Physics terms.
     After how many seconds does the apple land on the ground, if it falls from the height 16 ft ?
The distance the free falling body falls in t seconds is h = ,
     where g = 32 ft/s^2 is the gree fall acceleration (approximately).
So, what you need is to solve this equation
16 =
for t. Multiply both sides by , and you will get
 = 1,  which gives you the answer  t = 1 second.
Answer. In 1 second.
