Question 1045588: inverse of y=(x+4)/(x-4), i am confused as to what to do here
Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
inverse of y=(x+4)/(x-4)
:
Swap x and y and solve for y
x =
multiply both sides by (y-4)
x(y-4) = y + 4
distribute x
xy - 4x = y + 4
add 4x to both sides, subtract y from both sides
xy - y = 4x + 4
factor out y
y(x-1) = 4x + 4
divide both sides by (x-1)
y =
