Question 504366: I have an absolute value question....
5(5x+7)+2<=21...the parenthesis are the absolute value symbols....ive tried every step at different points in the equation, and i always end up with the wrong answer....(-56/25,-26/25) i thought for sure was it but i was wrong....ive spent the last hour on this one. I know set the left side to -21 and commence the solving, isolate the absolue value and divide by 5 but every time i try, my math comes up short.

Question 508321: I have a 30 word problem project due tomorrow. I've attempted doing the problem many times in different ways and neither of them give me the answer 100.
The problem is:
The length of a rectangular sheet of paper was twice its width. After 1 cm was trimmed from each edge of the sheet, the perimeter was at most 1 m. Find the largest possible dimensions of the trimmed sheet.
I've drawn this equation:
100 > 2(2w - 1) + 2(w - 1)
When I solved, I got w > 16
When i plug it into "l" I get 31.
my problem is that i 31 + 31 + 16 + 16 =/= 100
Please help ASAP!

Question 508416: Sometimes one is only given the slope and a point not on the y-axis and asked to find the equation of the line going through those two points. One of two very nice methods for doing this is to use the Point-Slope Formula (given below). Given the slope of 3 and the point (1, 5), use the point slope formula, to write the equation for this line.
y-y1(1 should be lower)= m(x-x1(1 should be lower...
m is the slope and (x1(1 should be lower),y1(1 should be lower) is the point)
(when i say the 1 should be lower it should be like like y^1 but its on the bottom rightnot top)

Question 509198: Aman decides to eat breakfast at Burger King. He is a big fan of their French toast sticks and he likes orange juice. He wants to eat no more than 500 calories and consume no more than 450 mg of sodium. Each French toast stick (with syrup) has100 calories and 100 mg of sodium. Each small orange juice has 150calories and 50 mg of sodium. The number of French toast sticks and the number of small orange juices ordered must both be greater than or equal to zero.
a.)Define your variables, x and y.
100x+150y<500
100x+50y<450
b.)Set up a system of inequalities
I think there are four of them but not sure if I have the first set up to do the rest

Question 511313: the depreciation for the corporate airplane from 2006
to 2009. The plane was purchased new in 2006; therefore, x = 0 represents the year 2006.
X axis (horizontal) = years starting from 0 = 2006 and increasing by 0.5 years
Y axis (vertical) = price in $ amounts from 24,000 to 240,000
List the coordinates of two points on the graph in (x, y) form.
(2.0, 216000),(3.0,204000)
b) Find the slope (rate of depreciation) of this line:
c) Find the linear equation of this line in slope-intercept form.
d) If the rate of depreciation continues at the present rate, what will be the plane’s
value in the year 2017? Show how to use the linear equation from part c) to
obtain your answer.
e) If the trend continued, in how many years would the plane’s value be $48000?
Show how to use the linear equation from part c) to obtain your answer.
