Question 175633: I am not understanding exactly how to do this problem. My answer comes up entirely different from the given answer in the book. I need to know the steps in solving this Inequality.
Compound Inequality. Give the solution set in both interval and graph form.
x+2 > 7 or 1-x > 6
I come up with this solution:
x+2 > 7 or 1-x > 6
-2 > -2 or -1 -1
x> 5 or x > 5
The book says the union is ( -infinity,-5) U (5,infinity)
I came up with two positives. I can not figure out what am I doing wrong in this Inequality, please help.
Your help is gracefully appreciated.
Thank you!
Lauren
