: "Use the Addition Property and/or Multiplication Properties to find a and b. If -3 < x < 4, then a < x + 4 < b."
I have tried substituting the "if" equation in for x in the "then" equation, but just can't seem to get anywhere. The back of the book indicates that the correct answer is a=1 and b=8. I can't figure out how to move from an inequality to an answer with an equality.This question is from textbook Intermediate Algebra

Question 158087: How do i write this inequality:
Your quiz grades are 19,17,20, and 15. What is the lowest grade you can receive on the next quiz and maintain at least an 18 average?
The inequality does not have to be solved. I think the answer is 71+ x /5 >=18.
Is this correct and how do i solve inequalities like this?

You must work for at least 80 hours in this course to complete the requirements. Some of that will be testing time, and some will be for assignments. You have 18 tests that take from 1/2 hour to 2 hours each to complete. You have 110 assignments that take between 1/2 hr and 1 hour to complete.
Write the five inequalities involved.
I'm not sure if my inequalities are correct. I think the answers are:
9<=x<=36
55<=y<=110
x+y>80
If they are correct how do i graph them?

Question 159128: Ziggy's famous yogurt blends regular yogurt that is 3% fat with its no fat yogart to obtain 1%fat. How many pounds of no fat yogurt should be mixed to obtain 60 pounds of low fat yogurt?
0.03x + 0.0y= 60
0.03x=60
x=60/0.03
x= 20 pounds
I am not sure if this is the way to set up the problem, please help
