Question 998951: Solve the inequality 8/x < x-2
Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve the inequality 8/x < x-2
Multiply both sides by x and you have
8 < x(x-2)
8 < x^2 - 2x
0 < x^2 - 2x - 8
We can rewrite this to
x^2 - 2x - 8 > 0
Factors to
(x-4)(x+2) > 0
Two solutions
x > 4
x > -2

See if this is true in the original equation
