Question 997729: Write an equality and solve.
Find all the numbers such that the product of seven and the number is more than the sum of seven and the number. What is the smallest integer that is a solution?

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
7 * x > 7 + x

subtract x from both sides to get 7 * x - x > 7.
combine like terms to get 6 * x > 7.
divide both sides by 6 to get x > 7/6.

the smallest integer would have to be 2, since 1 is less than 7/6 and x has to be greater than 7/6.
