You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First, identify the following
Selena's hourly rate = r%5BS%5D
Percy's hourly rate = r%5BP%5D
Hours per week that Selena works t%5BS%5D
Hours per week that Percy works t%5BP%5D
At the very end of the problem, it says that their weekly pay is the same
That's the same as saying
r%5BS%5D%2At%5BS%5D+=+r%5BP%5D%2At%5BP%5D
You are given that r%5BP%5D+=+6 dollars per hour
and also r%5BS%5D+=+r%5BP%5D+%2B+2 dollars per hour
So r%5BS%5D+=+6+%2B+2
r%5BS%5D+=+8 dollars per hour
Going back to
r%5BS%5D%2At%5BS%5D+=+r%5BP%5D%2At%5BP%5D
8%2At%5BS%5D+=+6%2At%5BP%5D
Percy works 8 hours more per week than Selena, so
t%5BP%5D+=+t%5BS%5D+%2B+8, so
8%2At%5BS%5D+=+6%2A%28t%5BS%5D+%2B+8%29
8%2At%5BS%5D+=+6%2At%5BS%5D+%2B+48
2%2At%5BS%5D+=+48
t%5BS%5D+=+24
and
t%5BP%5D+=+t%5BS%5D+%2B+8
t%5BP%5D+=+32
So, Percy works 32 hours per week
check answer:
r%5BS%5D%2At%5BS%5D+=+r%5BP%5D%2At%5BP%5D
8%2A24+=+6%2A32
192+=+192
OK
