Question 907260: Hi there, I'm not sure how to put the answers to this in interval notation, help solving this would be fantastic:
x^2-13x+36 < 0

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
set the equation equal to 0 to find out where the graph crosses the x-axkis.
factor to get (x-4) * (x-9) = 0
roots of the equation are x = 4 and x = 9
solution is when x^2 - 13x + 36 < 0
check the following regions by substituting test values in the equation
x < 4
x > 4 and x < 9
x > 9
when x < 4, the equation is positive.
when x > 4 and < 9, the equation is negative.
when x > 9, the equation is positive.
your solution is x > 4 and x < 9
this can be shown as 4 < x < 9
in interval notation this would be shown as x = interval of (4,9)
