(x-6)/(x^2-49)>0
(x-6)/((x+7)(x-7))>0
x cannot be 7 or -7. Division by zero not allowed so 7 and - 7 are intervals.
x-6=0, x=6 so 6 is an interval.
Now put a value for x above and below each of the intervals to see if the inequality is valid for the interval.
